Stuffed with Purpose: A Sweet Journey from Cakes to Cream Pies
Some journeys are written in flour-dusted aprons and midnight cravings.
Mine began in 2008, in a warm Texas kitchen, baking custom cakes and desserts under the name Mygi’s Bakery Café. It was sweet, soulful work the kind of baking that carried family traditions and joy straight to the table.
But in 2013, life shifted. A complicated pregnancy, months of bed rest, and the premature birth of my daughter a tiny warrior who spent over 10 months in the NICU brought everything to a halt. Mygi’s closed its doors, and for a while, I put my apron down to focus on healing, caregiving, and adjusting to a new world with a neurodivergent child.
Still, the oven called.
By 2016, I felt the stirrings of creativity return. But this time, I wasn’t chasing cake tiers I wanted to reimagine the most beloved item on my menu: pudding. So I created Pudding on Smiles, a family-run business rooted in love, resilience, and flavor. It was built not just to serve desserts, but to serve a deeper purpose providing for my daughter and doing what I loved most.
Then came 2020.
The world shut down. So did my marriage. And eventually, so did Pudding on Smiles.
But even in the hard seasons, I found pieces of myself in pastry.
In 2022, I started again this time as a single mom with a stronger vision. Dainty Puddings was born, delicate but determined. I built it with everything I had the experience, the passion, and the grace to keep going.
And in 2025, a new chapter opened. A move to North Carolina gave me a new horizon and fresh inspiration. I leaned into a nostalgic treat that had always comforted me: the oatmeal cream pie. But I didn’t want to just recreate it I wanted to elevate it.
That’s when A Stuffed Affair was born.
Now, every hand-stuffed pie we make is more than a dessert it’s a tribute to the journey. From cakes to pudding jars to cream pies… every pivot had a purpose. Every flavor has a story. And every bite is made to be remembered.
